As part of the launch of the Mini Merch collection, we are pleased to introduce these adorable wooden animals by T-lab of Japan.
T-lab’s PolePole animals have been a part of Japanese culture for more than 10 years. The name PolePole (pronounced “poh-leh poh-leh”) translates as “slowly slowly” in Swahili, and is a direct reference to the careful manner in which each animal is made: individually carved and finished by hand by skilled craftsmen.
The collection was designed in Japan and hand-crafted in Indonesia from soft, white Albiza wood. Each piece is then carefully refined and finished by hand and painted with each animal’s unique characteristic. The attention to detail – from tiny tails to smiling faces – is amazing.
