Bermuda Yacht Services in St George’s played host to a number of local artists recently with the launch of a contemporary art exhibit entitled Marine + Materiality which was intended to provide a counterpoint to the marine exposition that was slated to take place in the Town at the same time. Included in the exhibit, which was curated by the former Director of the Bermuda National Gallery Lisa Howie, were artists Louisa Bermingham, Karla-Faye Hardtman, Teresa Kirby-Smith, Ami Zanders and Andrea Lundt. While the featured artists are prolific in different media – from the paintings of Bermingham to the paper cuttings of Hardtman and the large-scale works of Lundt – the show still managed a certain level of cohesion based on the relevance of the location and the subject matter.
